Group Manager, Mechanical Engineering (Mining)

Location: Duluth, Minnesota or Bloomington, Minnesota; candidates must reside within regular commuting distance. Hybrid arrangement with typically three days in the office and two days remotely. Travel to offices, project and client locations, and conferences is required, including up to 20% travel.

What you will do

• Lead the growth, direction, financial performance, and operations of the Mining Mechanical team.
• Coach and mentor mechanical engineers, designers, and technicians while supporting professional development.
• Provide technical guidance across project lifecycles and lead mechanical engineering, quality assurance, and quality control activities.
• Manage multidisciplinary projects, budgets, schedules, planning, construction coordination, and contract negotiations.
• Develop marketing plans, lead proposal efforts, pursue new business, and represent hirify.global in project interviews.
• Build relationships with current and prospective clients through conferences, networking, and project consultations.

Requirements

• Professional Engineer license and 15 or more years of progressive design experience.
• Mechanical design experience with commercial HVAC and plumbing systems and industrial balance-of-plant systems.
• At least five years managing a diverse portfolio of multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience coaching, developing, or leading mechanical engineering professionals or project teams.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, proposal, specification, and technical-report skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to work outside normal hours and travel up to 20%.

Nice to have

• Professional registration in multiple states.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks.
• Active membership in professional societies and organizations.
