Operations Specialist (Natural Gas Pipelines)

Location: Onsite at Tennessee Gas Pipeline Compressor Station 527 in Port Sulphur, Louisiana; residence at the station is required during 7-day-on shifts. The schedule is 7 days on and 7 days off, 12 hours per day, with occasional travel and shift work.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain gas and liquid pipelines, compressor stations, pump stations, terminals, process plants, and related facilities.
• Start, stop, monitor, adjust, and maintain engines, turbines, pumps, compressors, valves, instruments, dehydration equipment, and other process equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, instrumentation, minor electrical, pipeline, corrosion-control, and facility issues.
• Perform pipeline right-of-way, facility, storage-area, construction, coating, excavation, painting, and general maintenance activities.
• Oversee contractors and third-party maintenance or construction work, train personnel, and represent the company with landowners, officials, and emergency responders.
• Complete compliance documentation, support PHMSA and other regulatory activities, identify safety and environmental concerns, and participate in operational excellence programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience; an associate or vocational-technical degree in mechanical or instrumentation technology is a plus.
• Knowledge of compressor and pump stations, gas treatment, storage facilities, process plants, gathering and transmission systems, and pipeline operations.
• Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, and other diagrams and safely handle flammable gases, liquids, and high- and low-pressure systems.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to respond to after-hours callouts and emergencies, and ability to obtain and maintain required OQ qualifications and certifications.
• Ability to work onsite in Port Sulphur, Louisiana, live at the station during 7-day shifts, work outdoors in extreme weather, enter confined spaces, climb elevated platforms and ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
