Field/Service Technician (Natural Gas)

Location: Springfield, Ohio; must live within 20 miles of 2565 E Main St, Springfield, OH 45503

Salary: $35.94–$39.33

What you will do

• Install, repair, and replace gas distribution mains, services, meters, regulators, and house lines.
• Operate, transport, clean, lubricate, and maintain backhoes, side booms, tampers, hydra-cranes, and other construction equipment.
• Inspect and test service lines, gas appliances, and facilities using gauges, test instruments, and gas detection equipment.
• Investigate gas emergencies and service inquiries, including leaks, odors, fires, explosions, and loss of gas service.
• Advise plumbers, contractors, and customers; turn gas service on and off, read meters, collect delinquent bills, and repair curb boxes.
• Respond to emergency calls and support work outside normal hours, including during storm season.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, mechanical aptitude, and ability to use hand tools and perform basic math.
• Ability to read gauges and dials, prepare clear records, communicate effectively, and work with limited supervision.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, perform scheduled and unscheduled overtime, respond to emergencies, and wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.
• Knowledge of OSHA pipeline safety and underground construction practices.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
• Must satisfy the Springfield-area living requirement and pass physical capability, drug, motor vehicle, background, attitude, and aptitude assessments.

Nice to have

• Plumbing trade experience with natural gas experience.
• Current OQ plumbing qualifications.
• Additional experience reading and interpreting gauges and dials.
