TL;DR
Patient Advocacy Specialist (Spanish Fluency): Supporting Medicaid members by identifying health-related social needs, connecting them with community resources, and coordinating referrals with an accent on empathetic communication, accurate documentation, and barrier removal. Focus on building trusted member relationships, following up on service connections, and improving patient experience through collaboration with Patient Experience, Product, Engineering, and Operations.

Location: Remote within the United States; mandatory onsite training in New York during onboarding. No travel is required beyond the one-time training. Standard operating hours are 9:00 AM–5:30 PM in the employee's time zone, with occasional overtime as needed.

Salary: $22.00–$24.00 per hour, plus a performance bonus and benefits.

What you will do

  • Engage Medicaid members to understand health-related social needs and provide empathetic support.
  • Educate members about eligible resources and make referrals to community-based organizations and social service programs.
  • Follow up on referrals, help remove service-access barriers, answer questions, and resolve issues.
  • Document outreach, member needs, referrals, and outcomes accurately according to workflows and privacy requirements.
  • Meet individual and team performance goals while maintaining quality and improving the member experience.
  • Share insights and collaborate with Patient Experience, Product, Engineering, and Operations to refine workflows and best practices.

Requirements

  • Must be located in the United States and attend mandatory onsite training in New York.
  • Fluent written and spoken Spanish is required and will be evaluated during the interview.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a call center, customer support, patient services, community health, or another high-volume customer-facing role.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, empathy, judgment, resilience, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems, tools, and workflows quickly.

Nice to have

  • Experience in healthcare, patient services, community health, or value-based care.
  • Experience with Medicaid reimbursement.
  • College degree or equivalent education and relevant experience.
