International Export Specialist (Battery Materials)

hirify.global is localizing the global battery supply chain through battery recovery, reuse, recycling, energy storage, and battery-material production.

What you will do

• Book and manage ocean export shipments from U.S. facilities to destination ports across Asia and Europe, coordinating freight forwarders, NVOCCs, drayage, containers, port cut-offs, and vessel schedules.
• Prepare and distribute export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, dangerous goods declarations, ISPM-15 declarations, and bills of lading.
• File Electronic Export Information through AES or AESDirect, resolve compliance alerts, and maintain USPPI and filer-of-record determinations.
• Screen parties against denied and restricted-party lists and coordinate trade compliance reviews for controlled, waste-classified, and dangerous goods shipments.
• Track shipments through delivery, manage roll-overs, holds, documentation discrepancies, demurrage, and detention, and communicate recovery plans.
• Maintain audit-ready records, reconcile forwarder and carrier invoices, update TMS and ERP data, and report on export volume, costs, transit performance, and documentation accuracy.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of hands-on international export, freight forwarding, or customs experience with direct ocean export documentation.
• Working knowledge of Foreign Trade Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, EEI filing, AES or AESDirect, Schedule B, HTS classification, certificates of origin, and free trade agreement documentation.
• Working knowledge of Incoterms 2020 and ocean transport documents, including booking confirmations, house and master bills of lading, and arrival notices.
• IMDG certification or the ability to obtain it within six months; knowledge of Class 9 lithium battery shipping requirements.
• Experience managing freight forwarders, customs brokers, and NVOCCs, with strong written and verbal communication across international time zones.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with TMS and ERP systems, plus strong attention to detail, recordkeeping, prioritization, and escalation.

Nice to have

• Awareness of Basel Convention, OECD controls, and EU Waste Shipment Regulation procedures for recyclable and end-of-life materials.
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, international business, logistics, or a related field.
• Experience with lithium battery and battery-material shipments, dangerous goods packaging, marking, labeling, and carrier acceptance requirements.
