Controls Engineer I (Nights)

Location: Marion, North Carolina, United States. Onsite night-shift role requiring frequent movement between the office and production floor and work in a clean room without daylight or windows. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $76,000–$104,500 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Develop solutions for assigned engineering projects and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Design and perform testing, experiments, data analysis, validation activities, and equipment studies.
• Support manufacturing regulatory compliance, protocols, operating instructions, and change control activities.
• Investigate NCR/CAPA issues and troubleshoot existing and new equipment and systems.
• Assist with equipment design, installation, start-up, technical support, and production training.
• Coordinate projects with manufacturing and other internal and external multifunctional teams.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering required; Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering preferred.
• Strong accountability, ownership, leadership, and project management skills.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices and applications.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, AB500, safety PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communications including TCP/IP, RS-232, Profibus, Fieldbus, and HSSB.
• Hands-on electrical diagnostics, Category 3 safety systems, E-Plan P8, AutoCAD, schematic interpretation, drives, motion control, encoders, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Ability to work on a night shift, in a clean room, and occasionally use ladders to access machinery.

Nice to have

• Experience in a regulated industry.
• Experience with Fanuc, Yaskawa, or Staubli robotics and Cognex or Keyence vision systems.
• Programming knowledge in C#, C++, VB, or SQL Server.
