TL;DR
Automation Engineer II (Manufacturing) (industrial automation): Designing and implementing automated manufacturing equipment and electrical systems with an accent on PLCs, HMIs, networking, electromechanical systems, and production efficiency. Focus on developing equipment documentation, validating new equipment releases, integrating DFM/DFA requirements, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems.

Location: East Providence, Rhode Island, USA; onsite manufacturing/office environment

What you will do

  • Design and implement automated manufacturing equipment and processes to improve product quality, capacity, and cost.
  • Design electrical systems covering power, communications, and data, and establish equipment specifications.
  • Create project plans and coordinate, monitor, and evaluate project deliverables.
  • Develop wiring schematics, bills of material, operation manuals, training materials, spare-parts lists, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance teams to support production and achieve cost-effective designs.
  • Manage validation and verification for new equipment releases and troubleshoot automated manufacturing systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, automation engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience with automated assembly equipment and systems.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with instrumentation and controls equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, and networking equipment.
  • Experience with PLC programming, preferably Beckhoff, and HMI system design and development.
  • Strong SolidWorks solid-modeling skills and knowledge of pneumatics, servo actuators, and controls.
  • Strong electromechanical, problem-solving, multitasking, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Keyence vision-system programming experience.
  • Yushin robot programming experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Excel.
