Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: Amarillo, Texas, United States; frequent travel to field and job sites is required.

Salary: $30–$36 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.

What you will do

• Maintain company vehicles and heavy equipment, including trucks, tractor-trailers, bucket trucks, and other fleet vehicles.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, oil changes, tune-ups, and system tests.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel issues using visual inspections and computer diagnostic equipment.
• Repair or replace components such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical systems.
• Plan repair schedules, prioritize operational requirements, order parts, and coordinate with the Fleet Manager.
• Travel to job sites on short notice, perform field repairs and maintenance, and conduct test drives to confirm safe operation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a vocational or technical school program or apprenticeship in auto repair or a related field.
• At least three years of experience as a mechanic working with heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and write complex documents in English.
• Ability to work overtime, shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed, and complete company and client training and qualifications.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally, climb in and out of a bucket truck, and perform physically demanding job-site work.
