Lead Diesel Mechanic

Location: Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA; onsite

Pay range: $33.65–$46.25 per hour, depending on locality.

What you will do

• Lead a group of technicians performing safe, timely repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and refuse equipment.
• Diagnose complex issues across diesel engines, chassis, braking, suspension, drivetrain, steering, hydraulic, electrical, heating, and air conditioning systems.
• Inspect internal and third-party repairs for compliance with safety procedures and applicable regulations.
• Coach and mentor technicians on diagnostic and repair techniques.
• Plan and schedule work to reduce shop downtime and lost productivity.
• Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication and handle Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities when needed.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to independently inspect and repair relevant heavy truck or automotive systems.
• Experience with OSHA HazCom, lockout/tagout, and fire protection regulations is a plus.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or lead technician experience is a plus.
• ASE Heavy Truck Certifications T1–T8 and a Class B or higher CDL are a plus.
