Field Technician (Heavy Equipment)

Location: Field-based work at customer sites and in the shop; requires travel away from home and overtime with minimal notice.

Salary: $30.00–$50.00 per hour, with overtime eligibility.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, air-conditioning, power-train, and other heavy equipment systems.
• Operate equipment, hand tools, power tools, and electronic diagnostic equipment to locate and diagnose failures.
• Read hydraulic and electrical schematics, perform diagnostic testing and tuning, and determine required corrective action.
• Communicate repair plans and status updates to customers while building professional customer relationships.
• Assess parts for failure causes and reusability, coordinate required parts, and assist with large repairs or projects.
• Maintain the field service truck and complete daily work orders, time entries, and repair documentation.

Requirements

• Three to five years of verifiable heavy equipment repair experience operating a field service truck.
• High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in diesel technology or a related field is preferred.
• Valid Class A or B CDL, an insurable driving record, and compliance with DOT E-Logs and hours-of-service requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, time-management, computer, and communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, reach, pull, lean, twist, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work independently or with a team, travel away from home, own required tools, and work overtime with minimal notice.

Nice to have

• Prior dealership experience.
• Komatsu experience as the primary equipment line.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in diesel technology or a related field.
