Lead Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid working role

What you will do

• Take technical ownership of the Configuration Experience team, which builds and manages insurance products.
• Set the team's technical direction and research solutions for complex engineering problems.
• Write RFCs, build proofs of concept with other teams, and implement the resulting software.
• Partner with product managers and stakeholders on business and technical decisions.
• Plan delivery realistically, follow agile principles, resolve obstacles, and keep stakeholders informed.
• Lead by example through feedback, team meetings, and support for colleagues' growth.

Requirements

• Solid hands-on software engineering experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Initial experience leading or managing people and motivation to develop further as a leader.
• Full-stack understanding across frontend and backend with a cloud-agnostic mindset.
• Experience using AI tools in engineering workflows, including harnesses, subagent delegation, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Clear communication and the ability to collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and other engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in insurance or finance.
