Medical Laboratory Technician (Clinical Chemistry)

Location: On-site in South Plainfield, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $28–$33 per hour for US-based candidates; location-based ranges may apply outside the US.

What you will do

• Perform routine and specialized analysis of blood, serum, urine, and other body fluids using automated analyzers and manual techniques.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot chemistry instrumentation while monitoring quality control.
• Review and validate test results, investigate discrepancies, and identify abnormal findings.
• Maintain quality control data, instrument maintenance logs, reagent inventories, and accurate LIS documentation.
• Follow laboratory SOPs, CLIA standards, safety protocols, PPE requirements, and biohazard handling procedures.
• Collaborate with technologists, laboratory assistants, and supervisors; participate in proficiency testing, competency assessments, and continuing education.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Current Medical Laboratory Technologist certification such as ASCP or AMT is preferred.
• 1–2 years of clinical chemistry laboratory experience preferred; new graduates may be considered.
• Familiarity with automated chemistry and hematology analyzers, including Roche, Beckman Coulter, or Sysmex.
• Proficiency with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

• Experience in general chemistry, special chemistry, and/or toxicology testing.
• Additional familiarity with LIS systems.
