Blood Bank Lab Technologist (Clinical Laboratory Science)

Location: Onsite positions in Nashville, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, or Birmingham, Alabama, United States. Work schedule: second shift.

Sign-on bonus: $5,000 for external applicants only.

What you will do

• Evaluate specimen acceptability according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex blood bank laboratory procedures under departmental standard operating procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate reagents and controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform preventive maintenance, quality control, supply replenishment, and specimen processing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, or an MLS degree.
• At least one year of clinical laboratory testing experience unless holding an MLS degree.
• Ability to make technical decisions, solve testing problems, and work independently and within a team.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and proficiency with computers.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test and work overtime or other shifts when needed.

Nice to have

• ASCP or AMT certification.
• At least one year of clinical blood bank MLS experience.
• Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy education requirements.
