Director, Music Business & Legal Affairs (Music Law/Entertainment): Leading music strategy, rights management, licensing, and legal compliance for international television productions with an accent on UK/EU music rights, complex negotiations, and high-volume deal flow. Focus on drafting music agreements, clearing music usage, managing composer, publishing, synchronization, and master-use rights, and building standardized workflows across global production teams.
Location: St. Giles High Street, London, United Kingdom. The role requires unrestricted authorization to work in the UK and may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. External candidates may be required to attend an in-person interview.

What you will do
- Lead music business strategy across UK productions and align practices with global music policies.
- Negotiate and draft composer deals, publishing arrangements, licensing agreements, soundtrack distribution agreements, and label waivers.
- Advise on UK and EU music rights, copyright, fair dealing and fair use, parody, public domain analysis, union regulations, and performing rights.
- Review and clear music usage, process licensing requests and related payments, and manage cue sheet submissions.
- Coordinate budgeting, invoicing, payroll, vendor setup, union obligations, deliverables, tracking grids, cost charts, and music databases.
- Partner with producers, studio executives, legal teams, external music entities, and global Music Business & Legal Affairs teams on production initiatives and technology solutions.
Requirements
- 6–8 years of experience in music law, entertainment law, or music business affairs.
- Deep knowledge of UK/EU music rights, licensing, and industry practices.
- Established relationships with publishing companies, record labels, music libraries, and other rights representatives.
- Proven ability to manage complex negotiations, high-volume deal flow, competing deadlines, and multiple clients.
- Strong analytical, drafting, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-advisory skills.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, contract management systems, payment and vendor setup tools, Qwire, and SoundMouse.
Nice to have
- Experience managing or mentoring junior staff.
- Experience at Senior Manager level with readiness to step up.
