Environmental Advisor

Location: Water Port Solent, South of England, United Kingdom; regular work on active construction sites is required

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day environmental assurance across active water infrastructure construction sites.
• Ensure compliance with environmental obligations, permits, reporting requirements, legislation, and the company’s environmental management system.
• Define environmental deliverables and workstreams with project teams and integrate them into project schedules.
• Advise colleagues, contractors, and subcontractors on regulatory compliance and environmental matters.
• Attend site meetings, audits, and inspections with contractors and internal stakeholders.
• Review waste management plans, transfer documentation, permitting submissions, and environmental monitoring processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental management or a relevant discipline, or relevant professional accreditation such as ISEP (IEMA), CIWM, or CENV.
• Previous environmental experience in infrastructure or construction.
• In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a client-facing environment.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, challenge on-site practices, and hold contractors accountable.
• Full driving licence is essential.
