Power Grids Engineering Manager

What you will do

• Manage and develop system design, installation design, and cable accessories engineering functions across the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership and governance for transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects involving 66kV–525kV systems.
• Act as the technical authority for cable system design, installation engineering, and cable accessory applications, including reviewing and approving key deliverables.
• Lead engineering resource planning, competency development, and succession planning.
• Support tendering and business development through technical leadership, risk assessment, programme input, and engineering solutions.
• Manage interfaces with customers, consultants, contractors, utilities, regulators, and transmission and distribution system operators.

Requirements

• Degree-level education in a relevant engineering subject.
• Membership of an engineering professional institution.
• Previous engineering experience; knowledge of cable systems is preferred, while civil engineering experience may also be considered.
• Computer literacy with knowledge of AutoCAD, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Strong people management competencies.
• Ability to work on projects across the UK and comply with applicable standards, health and safety requirements, CDM regulations, and project governance processes.

Nice to have

• Experience with cable systems, transmission projects, installation methodologies, or cable accessory solutions.
