Data Governance Lead (Data Mesh)

What you will do

• Define and continuously evolve the enterprise Data Governance strategy, framework, and target operating model.
• Shape governance foundations, ownership models, and ways of working for the organisation’s Data Mesh direction.
• Advise executives and senior stakeholders across business, technology, architecture, risk, security, legal, and compliance.
• Establish practical accountability, stewardship, decision-making, and governance capabilities across a decentralised organisation.
• Define governance objectives, KPIs, and outcome measures for trusted data, business agility, AI readiness, and improved decision-making.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leading and shaping Data Governance in large, complex organisations.
• Experience with Data Mesh, federated operating models, and balancing domain ownership with enterprise alignment.
• Strong leadership, influencing, communication, and stakeholder-alignment skills in matrix organisations.
• Experience driving enterprise-wide transformation and organisational change.
• Ability to translate complex challenges into clear priorities and actionable direction.
• Successful completion of security vetting is required; additional citizenship obligations may apply for positions requiring security clearance.

Nice to have

• Expertise in Federated Governance and Data Product Management.
• Knowledge of metadata management, data quality, data lineage, data catalogues, and master data management.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms, Enterprise Architecture, Hub-and-Spoke operating models, and Medallion Architecture.
• Knowledge of data privacy, compliance, risk management, and AI/Data Governance.
