Mechanisms, Mechatronics and Robotics Engineer (m/f/d) (Space Robotics)

Location: Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich, Germany; flexible working arrangement balancing remote and on-site work.

What you will do

• Define requirements and develop concepts for space mechanisms, mechatronic systems, and robotic applications.
• Support the complete product lifecycle from concept definition through verification, delivery, integration, and testing.
• Select and size motors, sensors, bearings, gear stages, shafts, and other drivetrain components.
• Perform technical analyses, trade-offs, and simulations using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and MSC ADAMS.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, interfaces, technical budgets, and subsystem decisions.
• Act as Technical Supply Manager for externally developed subsystems, overseeing supplier compliance, reviews, risks, verification, and delivery.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical discipline.
• 0–5 years of relevant experience, including internships, research projects, or student activities.
• Knowledge of mechanism, mechatronics, robotics, mechanical design, manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, tolerancing, and drivetrain components.
• Understanding of systems engineering, requirements management, interface management, verification, and qualification.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and/or MSC ADAMS; CAD experience is beneficial.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is required. German language skills are an asset.

Nice to have

• Experience or strong interest in robotics, motion control, kinematics, autonomous systems, or robotic mechanisms.
• Knowledge of tribology, lubrication concepts, and mechanical performance assessment.
• Experience with hardware integration, troubleshooting, and Assembly, Integration and Test campaigns.
