System Test Engineer (NTN)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; hybrid with onsite work 3 days per week

Salary: $135,000–$145,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Design and execute test plans covering functionality, scalability, performance, acceptance, and regression.
• Validate end-to-end NTN features across devices, RAN, core network, and satellite segments.
• Perform integration, interoperability, lab, field, load, chaos, fault-injection, and efficiency testing.
• Analyze telemetry and observability data, debug issues across hardware, software, and network layers, and identify root causes.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and network engineers to define test strategies and resolve defects.
• Expand test automation coverage, document results, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Experience in system test, validation engineering, acceptance testing, or testing large-scale distributed or telecommunications systems.
• Strong knowledge of 3GPP cellular protocols, including LTE, 5G, and NB-IoT-NTN, with emphasis on RAN and core network components.
• Hands-on experience with system integration, performance benchmarking, end-to-end validation, protocol validation, device testing, and UE emulators.
• Ability to script or program in Bash, Python, Go, or Ruby on Unix/Linux and execute automation jobs with Jenkins.
• Experience testing RESTful and gRPC APIs, including use of Postman, plus strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Mountain View, California, 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite or NTN systems, including LEO, MEO, or GEO connectivity.
• Familiarity with RF testing methods, lab equipment, and field measurement tools.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, virtualized test environments, Robot Framework, Python automation frameworks, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience leading system validation projects or mentoring junior engineers.
