Commercial Closing Specialist (Open to Locations w/in the M&T Footprint)

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States of America; open to locations within the M&T footprint

Salary: $29.90–$49.84 hourly (USD)

What you will do

• Execute commercial loan closings from credit approval through funding.
• Validate loan documentation, due diligence, collateral, covenants, settlement terms, and system inputs.
• Complete commercial closing checklists and prepare transactions for Senior Closing Officer review and clearance.
• Coordinate with Relationship Managers, Underwriters, Credit, Treasury, Legal, borrowers, attorneys, and external counsel.
• Identify documentation gaps, exceptions, and compliance risks; escalate issues and resolve discrepancies before funding.
• Manage multiple simultaneous and complex multi-party transactions, including last-minute modifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in commercial loan closing, documentation, operations, or administration; alternatively, seven years of combined higher education and relevant work experience, including three years in a related area.
• Experience managing commercial closing transactions from approval through funding.
• Strong knowledge of commercial loan products, closing structures, documentation requirements, and applicable regulatory controls.
• Ability to identify exceptions, assess risk-sensitive information, and escalate issues appropriately before funding.
• Ability to manage multiple closings, maintain data quality and integrity, and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Prior experience with commercial loan origination platforms such as nCino.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with loan approvals, escalation procedures, and exception requirements.
• Knowledge of relevant products, systems, workflows, policies, and procedures.
• Paralegal or related experience in lending operations, underwriting, or customer service.
