Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Salt Lake, Utah; candidates must reside within the listed Utah ZIP codes and service the same territory. This is a remote-field position involving work from home, a mobile office/vehicle, and recurring in-person property inspections. Travel outside the assigned territory may occasionally be required.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and damage assessments for residential, commercial, and large-loss property claims.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage, policy terms, regulations, and evidence to determine claim validity.
• Document findings, prepare detailed reports, and use mobile and desktop tools to support claims handling.
• Communicate with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders, including during difficult or emotional conversations.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits and applicable company guidelines.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to investigate problems, analyze information, interpret policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to perform physical inspection duties, including walking, climbing ladders and roofs, crawling in tight spaces, bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting, and carrying.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, and irregular hours when business needs require.
• Successful completion of required training, licensing examinations, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and possible rope and harness safety training.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, insurance, business, construction management, or a related field.
• Customer service experience and knowledge of property insurance and claim handling.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial construction, building materials, water mitigation, and inspection processes.
• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
