Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection (Property Insurance)

Location: Port Jervis, New York, United States. Remote-field position requiring residence within the listed ZIP codes and service of the same territory. Work is performed from home and in the field using a mobile office/vehicle for in-person appointments, with occasional travel to other territories.

Salary: $78,862.06–$112,500 per year, plus potential annual incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess damage for residential, commercial, weather-related, accident, and large-loss claims.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Meet with policyholders, explain coverage, gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed reports.
• Evaluate policy terms and coverage validity while applying regulations, industry standards, and company guidelines.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits and provide professional customer service during difficult conversations.
• Collaborate with policyholders, agents, and other involved parties to resolve claims efficiently.

Requirements

• Must reside within the listed ZIP codes for the Port Jervis, NY territory.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, and irregular hours when needed.
• Strong investigation, analytical, organizational, decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use mobile and desktop tools to document and support claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, carry equipment, traverse roofs, and crawl through tight spaces.
• Ability to complete required training, licensing examinations, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and applicable assessments.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, business, construction management, or a related field.
• Customer service experience and knowledge of property insurance and claim handling.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial construction, building materials, water mitigation, and inspection processes.
• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
