Business Control Manager (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, IL; New York, NY; or San Francisco, CA, USA. Hybrid schedule with four days per week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office.

Base salary: $101,000–$140,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the control environment for an assigned business unit, including control libraries, records, enhancements, and reporting.
• Assess new products, features, and process changes for regulatory risk and design preventive, detective, and directive controls with Product and Engineering.
• Perform risk identification, severity assessment, control gap analysis, maturity evaluations, and post-implementation control validation.
• Map risks to regulatory obligations and maintain auditable risk, obligation, issue, and control records in a GRC platform.
• Lead compliance control workstreams for incidents, including root-cause gap analysis, remediation tracking, and control closure.
• Advise Product, Engineering, Legal, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance Advisory, internal audit, and bank partners on regulatory changes and control requirements.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, or internal controls in financial services or fintech.
• At least 3 years of experience with consumer protection laws, including Reg Z, Reg E, UDAAP, EFTA, or TILA.
• Hands-on experience documenting risks, controls, and issues in a GRC platform such as AuditBoard, Archer, ServiceNow IRM, or LogicGate.
• Experience advising Product, Engineering, Risk, and Operations teams on consumer protection and regulatory risk.
• Strong analytical, written, verbal communication, and stakeholder-influence skills.
• Ability to independently take a control from problem statement through validation and documentation under deadline.
