Location: Onsite in San Carlos, California, United States. Travel is estimated at approximately 50% with some overnight stays; travel throughout the PG&E service territory may be required. Preference is given to applicants living within 50 miles of the headquarters location.
Hourly rate: $53.71–$80.48. The starting rate is $53.71 per hour and is subject to collectively bargained wage increases.

What you will do
- Provide technical and engineering services for gas and electric construction projects.
- Conduct pre-job and post-job reviews, pre-checks, site surveys, USA markings, estimates, and construction checks.
- Coordinate customer shutdowns, construction schedules, status meetings, and communication with internal departments, agencies, customers, and contractors.
- Support construction crews and supervisors with field issues, material verification, NEC compliance, and project coordination.
- Prepare, review, and correct regional as-built drawings and packages for 100% accuracy.
- Maintain field labor records, review contractor invoices, and support project closeout and scheduling activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or construction, or two years of experience with qualifying supplemental education; an Engineer-In-Training certificate can satisfy the supplemental education requirement.
- Must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid California driver's license.
- Ability to work onsite, travel approximately 50%, and work flexible schedules including extended hours, nights, weekends, and overtime.
- Ability to read construction drawings, prepare field sketches and layouts, and demonstrate strong mathematics, computer, written communication, verbal communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Must be able to wear company-provided personal protective equipment and fire-retardant clothing.
- This is a DOT-covered classification subject to random drug and alcohol screening and collective bargaining.
Nice to have
- Previous field engineer or project engineer experience.
- CAD and hand-drafting experience.
- Engineer-In-Training certification and experience with SAP.
- Experience with gas transmission and distribution construction.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and experience driving safely in varied weather and road conditions.
