Commercial Underwriting Counsel (Real Estate)

Location: Hybrid in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

Base pay: $88,900–$118,500 annually

What you will do

• Provide underwriting support, legal counsel, and authorization for title insurance commitments and policies.
• Evaluate and approve commercial title insurance transactions within delegated authority.
• Advise internal teams on real estate settlement services and transaction execution.
• Develop and communicate underwriting standards and guidelines aligned with company processes.
• Share underwriting and settlement-services expertise with agents, customers, and internal partners.

Requirements

• Law degree.
• South Carolina Bar license or qualification as a licensed South Carolina attorney.
• At least 3 years of title underwriting experience.
• Strong knowledge of real estate law, including federal and state regulations.
• Deep understanding of title insurance, settlement processes, and industry practices.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, negotiation, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
