Wound Closure and Healing R&D Device Spring Co-Op

Location: Raritan, New Jersey, United States; onsite. The co-op runs from January through June 2027 and requires 40 hours per week.

Salary: $23.50–$52.50 per hour, based on program year, discipline, degree, and experience.

What you will do

• Support engineers with R&D activities for active Ethicon Biosurgery projects.
• Perform mechanical and laboratory testing, including post-test analysis.
• Assist with assembly of prototype devices and complete engineering activities across multiple projects.
• Create and update parts, assemblies, and technical drawings in CAD using SolidWorks.
• Write reports, test methods, protocols, and other design-control documentation.
• Attend project meetings and communicate business-related issues or opportunities to management.

Requirements

• Completion of the freshman year at an accredited university.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
• Knowledge of CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; generally requires 0–2 years of work experience.
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States and must not require current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of statistics.
• Knowledge of 3D printing or other prototyping methods.
• Previous laboratory experience.
