Mechanical Engineering Co-op Opportunities

Location: Needham, Massachusetts, United States; full-time onsite, 5 days per week

Hourly pay range: $27–$40 USD per hour

What you will do

• Contribute to concepting and development through brainstorming, sketching, CAD modeling, and prototyping.
• Build, test, and iterate prototypes and laboratory rigs to validate performance, usability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers on consumer-focused mechanical solutions.
• Analyze testing and consumer feedback to inform design decisions and improve product functionality.
• Participate in technical deep-dives and design reviews to identify root causes and propose practical solutions.
• Support feasibility analysis, technical documentation, materials and mechanisms work, manufacturing, and mass-production considerations.

Requirements

• Current student in, or recent graduate of, a related bachelor's, master's, or PhD program.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week onsite in Needham, Massachusetts, 5 days per week.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering and physics, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design.
• Hands-on experience developing and testing prototypes using plastic, metal, workshop tools, or experimental equipment.
• Exposure to CAD software, ideally SolidWorks or Creo, and/or 3D printing or laser cutting.
• Ability to communicate clearly, solve technical problems independently and collaboratively, and manage shifting priorities.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with analog and digital electronics, test equipment, sensors, motors, heaters, and PCBAs.
• Experience with Python, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi developer kits.
