Product Design Engineering Co-op Opportunities

Location: Needham, Massachusetts, United States; full-time, 40 hours per week with five days onsite required.

Hourly pay: $27–$40 USD.

What you will do

• Develop and refine consumer product concepts using user-centered design, ergonomics, performance, manufacturability, and mechanical feasibility.
• Translate established concepts into functional, consumer-ready solutions with industrial design, electrical engineering, marketing, and manufacturing partners.
• Lead and contribute to design studies and technical investigations addressing mechanical, usability, and performance challenges.
• Build, test, and iterate quick-turn, low-fidelity physical prototypes using hands-on experimentation and user testing.
• Apply mechanical engineering and physics fundamentals to solve design problems and improve product excellence.

Requirements

• Current student in, or recent graduate within the past year of, a related bachelor's, master's, or PhD program.
• Ability to work full-time onsite in Needham, Massachusetts, five days per week.
• Strong experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or Rhino.
• Strong experience with basic prototyping tools, 3D printing, plastics, metals, and machine shop or laboratory environments.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering, physics, ergonomics, human-centered engineering, and the relationship between form, function, and performance.

Nice to have

• Basic understanding of motors, sensors, PCBAs, and electronics used in small appliances.
• Experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar rapid prototyping platforms.
