Staff Technology Portfolio Manager

Location: Remote US role with a preference for candidates based in San Francisco; hybrid work is listed for San Francisco. Candidates residing in Alaska, Delaware, Iowa, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wisconsin are not considered.

Salary: $139,400–$164,000, $154,700–$182,000, or $170,000–$200,000 annually, depending on US location region.

What you will do

• Build and maintain a single system of record for the IT portfolio, including shared definitions of program health.
• Track approximately 100 programs across ERP, supply chain technology, commercial systems, CX technology, workplace technology, and enterprise architecture and AI.
• Run weekly portfolio reviews, prepare decision-focused pre-reads, close open items, and follow risks through resolution.
• Map cross-team dependencies and surface them as managed portfolio risks.
• Own intake governance and ensure new work requests receive a clear decision within a week.
• Build AI-supported reporting, dependency-analysis, and risk-detection workflows while partnering with IT planning, delivery leads, and program managers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of program or portfolio management experience in a technology organization.
• Experience building or rebuilding a portfolio system of record for complex, interdependent workstreams.
• Regular use of LLM assistants and agents for problem-solving, reporting, dependency analysis, and risk detection, with careful verification of outputs.
• Strong PMO tooling skills and enterprise IT fluency across areas such as ERP, identity, integrations, ITSM, and compliance.
• Ability to produce concise executive reporting, work through ambiguity, and identify risks proactively.
• Must reside in an eligible US location; San Francisco is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and AI app-building platforms such as Lovable.
• Experience scaling processes during a major company growth phase while delivery continued.
