AI Engineer – Forward Deployed Engineering (AI FDE)

Location: United States; remote locations are open within the United States. Travel to customers may be required once every 4–8 weeks.

Salary: $152,900–$210,155 USD annually, with potential annual performance bonus, equity, and regional benefits.

What you will do

• Develop cutting-edge generative AI solutions using current AI research techniques to solve customer problems.
• Own production rollouts of consumer-facing and internal generative AI applications.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers across multiple domains.
• Present technical work at conferences and contribute as an internal and external thought leader.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to influence priorities and shape the product roadmap.

Requirements

• Industry experience designing, building, and deploying production generative AI and LLM applications at scale; the role is not intended for interns, new graduates, or entry-level applicants.
• Experience with RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, fine-tuning, Hugging Face, LangChain, or DSPy.
• Expertise in production-grade generative AI deployment, evaluation, and optimization.
• Extensive hands-on data science experience with tools such as pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch.
• Experience deploying production-grade machine learning systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience, plus the ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Databricks Intelligence Platform and Apache Spark for large-scale distributed datasets.
