Staff Industrial Controls Engineer (PLC)

Location: USA remote with approximately 40% travel to customer locations in the United States and Canada

Base salary: $149,000–$204,600 per year, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Lead PLC development, implementation, and the design of dedicated industrial control systems.
• Define technical work, validate requirements with internal and external stakeholders, and lead test strategies, test execution, reporting, and compliance demonstrations.
• Develop new control-system functionality and modify existing PLC and HMI solutions.
• Perform root-cause analysis, troubleshoot complex automated systems, and support customers with unforeseen issues.
• Document equipment configurations, system functionality, features, and Industrial Controls processes.
• Coordinate with release management, update PLC and HMI systems remotely or on-site, support production sites, and coach less experienced employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience designing and implementing industrial control systems with PLCs, HMIs, and drives, plus at least 8 years of PLC and HMI programming experience.
• Advanced experience with Rockwell PLCs, including ControlLogix and GuardLogix.
• Knowledge of power systems, AC/DC drive control architecture, industrial networks, and HMI development with Ignition 8 or FactoryTalk ME/SE.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and troubleshoot complex automated systems.
• Ability to travel to customer locations in the United States and Canada, with a valid driver’s license and ability to drive or fly.

• Experience with JIRA and agile methodology.
• Experience with Rockwell and Inductive Automation products.
• Experience organizing teams and prioritizing tasks.
