Vehicle Electrical Control Systems (VECS) Staff Engineer (Automotive)

Salary: $111,000–$146,000 per year; the stated range applies to Minnesota.

What you will do

• Own assigned electrical features from concept through vehicle realization, including feature intent, requirements, integration, and production readiness.
• Define customer experiences, feature behavior, acceptance criteria, technical direction, and cross-functional tradeoffs.
• Develop functional architectures, interfaces, requirements traceability, and system models using Codebeamer or similar tools.
• Apply MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, and other modeling or simulation methods to evaluate concepts and support model-based development.
• Lead feature risk, DFMEA, functional safety, cybersecurity, regulatory, and intellectual-property activities.
• Create system-level test cases, perform vehicle testing and calibration, analyze CAN data, triage issues, and assess production readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least eight years of relevant experience in systems engineering, electrical control systems, embedded systems, or a related field.
• Experience with requirements development, functional decomposition, interface definition, and requirements-management tools.
• Experience with model-based engineering methods such as MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, SysML, or UML.
• Working knowledge of CAN-based embedded systems and vehicle-network data analysis.
• Ability and willingness to work hands-on with vehicles, test equipment, software tools, and incomplete early-development systems. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience in powersports, automotive, commercial vehicle, off-highway, aerospace, robotics, or another complex embedded-system industry.
• Experience with modeling and simulation, vehicle-network and diagnostic tools, embedded software and controller concepts, programming or scripting, and system-level verification.
