Senior Staff / Staff Software Engineer (Data Platform)

Location: Seattle or San Francisco, United States. U.S. work authorization is required; employment authorization is verified through E-Verify.

Base salary: $180,000–$260,000 per year, depending on level and location, plus standard benefits and startup equity.

What you will do

• Own backend and data systems from architecture and implementation through production operation, reliability, and scale.
• Design scalable ingestion and processing pipelines for CRM, web, advertising, product, and other customer data.
• Build integrations with BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, customer databases, APIs, cloud storage, and event-driven systems.
• Create curated datasets and data models for ML systems, analytics, reporting, and customer-facing applications.
• Develop backend APIs, services, internal applications, onboarding tools, validation systems, and troubleshooting automation using Python and TypeScript.
• Define architecture and engineering standards, mentor engineers, and enforce secure coding, data handling, authentication, authorization, and compliance practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience building production software systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, TypeScript, Node.js, SQL, backend services, and production data pipelines.
• Experience operating systems in GCP and/or AWS and working with large datasets and analytical databases.
• Ability to independently own complex systems from design through production and solve ambiguous technical problems.
• Must be able to work in Seattle or San Francisco and be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern data warehouses, ingestion frameworks, distributed systems, data modeling, idempotency, retries, concurrency, and failure recovery.
• Knowledge of GCS, S3, Cloud Run, Lambda, SQS/PubSub, Postgres/RDS, monitoring, observability, testing, and production operations.
• Experience integrating Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Ads, Meta, or other CRM and marketing platforms.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS, ML workflows, React or Next.js, Terraform, or developer and data onboarding platforms.
