Staff Product Designer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role combining remote work with onsite collaboration in Sherman Oaks, Mountain View, or Austin, United States

Salary: $140,500–$249,700 per year, with potential annual or incentive bonuses and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Develop frameworks for ambiguous problem spaces and explore multiple product directions before converging on evidence-based solutions.
• Build and ship production-quality prototypes using real interactions, data, and APIs.
• Take features from requirements through shipped experiences using AI development tools and front-end implementation.
• Create and document new design-system patterns and components that fit the system architecture.
• Review CI/CD checks, visual regression results, accessibility, token audits, and AI-generated work before release.
• Shape AI-powered experiences, user trust patterns, roadmap trade-offs, quality standards, and peer development across product, engineering, and brand.

Requirements

• Strong design fundamentals with evidence-based decision-making and meaningful exploration of alternatives.
• Experience designing from ambiguity and defining problems before requirements or documentation exist.
• Fluency with AI development tools such as Claude Code or equivalent for building production-quality prototypes.
• Front-end implementation experience, including working with real data and APIs and evaluating AI-generated code.
• Experience with Git and GitHub workflows, including branches, pull requests, and code review.
• Ability to communicate clearly, influence cross-functional partners, close design-system gaps, and connect product decisions to strategic direction.

Nice to have

• Experience with prompt and context scaffolding for consistent AI output.
• Experience instrumenting shipped products and using real usage data to guide design iteration.
• Experience mentoring peers and establishing quality standards.
