Principal Product Designer (AI)

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid work with flexibility to work from home and access to company offices. Remote work from eligible locations is available for up to 2 months per year.

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end UX/UI design for AI-native platforms, agentic workflows, collaborative data environments, and permission-controlled data sharing.
• Translate high-level workflows and technical requirements into mockups, prototypes, high-fidelity concepts, UI copy, and component documentation.
• Design secure-by-default interaction patterns for data visibility, access control, and sharing.
• Partner with Product Owners and Engineering to evaluate technical tradeoffs, align on backend logic, and influence roadmap direction.
• Lead strategic design for complex data-driven platforms and establish scalable design patterns and principles.
• Champion responsible AI use within a human-centered, AI-first design process.

Requirements

• 8+ years of product design experience, including at least 3 years in complex enterprise or technical domains such as AI platforms, cybersecurity, identity, or data-intensive systems.
• Technical fluency, including the ability to work with engineering, read system architecture, and design within real technical constraints.
• Experience designing agentic or collaborative workflows involving multiple users or agents and shared state.
• Strong systemic thinking, visual design skills, and the ability to design complex, security-focused workflows where trust and precision are essential.
• Experience mentoring designers, refining internal processes, and raising design quality across a team.
