Data Analyst (SQL/Databricks)

Location: Remote in the United States; headquarters in Columbia, Maryland.

Salary: $72,500–$96,500 USD per year, plus potential variable compensation.

What you will do

• Build and scale the business reporting layer in Databricks.
• Write SQL views and create dashboards from operational and customer data.
• Gather reporting requirements from business stakeholders and document technical specifications.
• Add structured descriptions and metadata to tables, views, and columns to improve data discovery and AI-assisted querying.
• Validate report accuracy, monitor data quality, and maintain reporting logic documentation.
• Use AI coding agents such as Databricks Genie or Claude to assist with query development and optimization.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, or data analysis.
• Working knowledge of SQL, including joins, aggregations, filtering, and query order of operations.
• Basic to working proficiency with Databricks, a comparable lakehouse, or a cloud data platform such as Snowflake.
• Experience building dashboards with Databricks native dashboards, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to document data objects, definitions, and reporting logic accurately.

Nice to have

• Experience documenting table and column metadata for data catalogs, semantic layers, or natural-language query tools.
• Exposure to Python or PySpark in Databricks notebooks.
• Familiarity with dbt, Git, analytics engineering, enterprise software, SaaS, or cybersecurity.
