What you will do

• Perform organic and organometallic synthesis to prepare molecular structures and materials for an externally funded research project.
• Conduct laboratory experiments and characterize samples using NMR, mass spectrometry, UV-Vis spectroscopy, electrochemistry, and other standard methods.
• Collect, interpret, document, and maintain accurate records of experimental data.
• Prepare research summaries, technical notes, manuscripts, presentations, progress reports, and NSF deliverables.
• Collaborate with faculty, research partners, and students while advancing project objectives.
• Mentor and train undergraduate and graduate researchers in laboratory techniques and safety.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Organic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience in organic or organometallic synthetic chemistry.
• Experience with spectroscopic and electrochemical characterization techniques.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research laboratory environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Employment may be affected if immigration sponsorship is required; the university will not pay the $100,000 H-1B petition fee.

Nice to have

• Experience with molecular electronic materials.
• Familiarity with EPR spectroscopy, radical chemistry, or main-group element functionalization.
• Experience with thin-film preparation and solid-state characterization methods.
• Prior experience mentoring or supervising undergraduate or graduate researchers.
