What you will do

• Write and edit daily news content for newscasts, special coverage, websites, social media, push alerts, and short-form video.
• Prepare daily news rundowns, introductions, stories, informational banners, graphics copy, and supers.
• Translate news content accurately between English and Spanish.
• React quickly to breaking news and show updates while maintaining editorial, ethical, and legal standards.
• Coordinate with producers, executive producers, anchors, managers, production and digital teams, assignment desks, and technical crews.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a major news market.
• Fluent written English and Spanish with bilingual translation ability.
• Excellent writing, copy-editing, storytelling, and digital content skills.
• Working knowledge of newsroom systems such as iNews and Vizrt.
• Familiarity with Chicago news, geography, Hispanic demographics, and local newsmakers is preferred.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays; membership in WGBO NABET-CWA Local 41 is required.
