Automation I&C Engineer III (Life Sciences)

Location: Emeryville, California, USA; the role includes site walks and construction field surveys.

Salary: USD 112,000–150,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead small to moderate automation, instrumentation, and controls projects through programming, planning, feasibility, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Develop automation control system designs involving multiple controllers, HMIs, workstations, and servers.
• Manage discipline budgets, priorities, project quality, and coordination with clients, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and construction managers.
• Prepare construction drawing packages, specifications, control system documentation, and engineering calculations.
• Identify non-compliant conditions during site walks and field surveys.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers and support training and proposal development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in a consulting or design firm.
• Experience creating and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams and coordinating with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, mechanical and building codes, and other applicable industry standards.
• Ability to manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities, and direct the work of others.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
• Fundamentals of Engineering certification or active registration.
• Experience with cGMP manufacturing environments, instrumentation and controls calculations, and control system implementation.
• Experience developing control system schematics, panel fabrication drawings, field wiring diagrams, and Safety Instrumented Systems.
• Basic troubleshooting skills for instrumentation, controls, and associated systems.
