Director, Automation (Process Control)

Location: North Chicago, Illinois, United States; travel estimated at 20% of the time, including global travel.

Salary: $160,500–$305,000 per year in base pay.

What you will do

• Lead global operations and maintenance standards for automated process control systems.
• Build and lead a virtual Community of Practice with Site Automation leaders and global automation engineers.
• Guide automation standards, reliability improvements, compliant practices, and long-term technology investments.
• Support manufacturing sites, audits, technical training, and global sourcing agreements for automation systems.
• Drive cost reduction, human-error reduction, user-interface standardization, and performance improvements.
• Manage talent development, performance feedback, goals, and team culture while coordinating with virtual teams across time zones.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• At least 15 years of technical experience with demonstrated expertise in Automation Engineering.
• Experience leading a large global initiative or large capital project.
• Subject matter expertise in distributed control systems, SCADA, PLC, and instrumentation and controls.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical or biotechnology operations and regulatory expectations.
• Strong communication skills; experience leading virtual teams and global initiatives.

Nice to have

• At least 5 years of regional or global technical team leadership.
• Expertise in data integrity and network security.
