Manufacturing Process Engineer (SMT/PTH Soldering)

Location: Onsite in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 74,600–99,500 per year, plus bonus opportunity

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize manufacturing, assembly, testing, repair, and rework processes for complex electronic assemblies.
• Evaluate equipment, technologies, tooling, fixtures, and capital expenditure opportunities, including ROI calculations.
• Coordinate new product introduction and process releases with NPI, design engineering, production, sustaining engineering, test engineering, and quality teams.
• Analyze manufacturing and test data, support KPIs and audits, and drive improvements in OTD, TAT, quality, and process performance.
• Develop test environments and cases, perform functionality and specialized tests, and diagnose complex electronic circuit failures.
• Document processes, review non-conforming materials, support ECOs and deviations, train operators, and recommend hardware or process improvements.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification with 4+ years of experience; or a technologist diploma with 7+ years in an electronics or electromechanical environment.
• Background in electronics manufacturing and circuit card assemblies.
• Knowledge of electronic assembly and test processes, SMT reflow, PTH hand, wave and selective soldering, connector press-fit and swaging, and PCB depanelization.
• Knowledge of IPC-610, J-STD, IPC-7711/7721, DFM, MSA, DOE, and PFMEA methodologies.
• Ability to interpret schematics, diagrams, layouts, and defined plans for test debugging; experience analyzing and testing computer hardware and software.
• Experience with SAP, Power BI, and SQL, along with strong analytical, technical, communication, organizational, and reporting skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with hardware and software requirements used to test electronic assemblies.
• Knowledge of operating systems and backend programming.
