CNC Machinist-2 (CNC Manufacturing)

Location: US-SC-Summerville (SAS); onsite at the Summerville facility

Salary: $23–$33 per hour, with additional premiums for second- and third-shift work.

Steam & Air Solutions provides turbine-drive and shipboard compression equipment for U.S. Navy vessels, including propulsion, power generation, and shipboard air systems.

What you will do

• Set up and operate NC/CNC and conventional machines to produce and repair finished and semi-finished components.
• Operate multi-axis, mill-turn, HBM, VTL, lathe, grinding, and honing equipment with fixtures, gauges, precision measuring tools, and attachments.
• Read and interpret detailed part and tool drawings while maintaining dimensional and geometric requirements.
• Perform turning, milling, boring, grooving, chamfering, profiling, tapering, tapping, blending, and finishing operations.
• Support routine machining operations and machine start-ups for mill-turn, HBM, VTL, horizontal lathe, and multi-axis equipment.
• Assemble and disassemble machined parts and operate cranes, forklifts, hand trucks, computers, and manufacturing systems for material handling.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required due to Department of Defense requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearances and approvals.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating CNC machines and basic knowledge of machining and assembly work.
• Ability to maintain quality and efficiency standards and communicate effectively.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist height and transport it 10 feet.

Nice to have

• Completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
