Payer Operations Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $55,000–$65,000 per year, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Document and maintain SOPs for payer contracting, enrollment, and credentialing workflows.
• Implement quality controls and error-checking checkpoints to reduce rework and rejected applications.
• Identify payer expansion bottlenecks and improve application cycle times.
• Maintain enrollment and contracting trackers, monitor aging items, and escalate blockers with proposed solutions.
• Follow up with payers by phone, email, and portal to resolve deficiencies and move applications toward approval.
• Collaborate with RCM and payer strategy or business development teams and assist with application submissions.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in provider enrollment, credentialing, payer contracting, or healthcare administration.
• Experience building or documenting processes and SOPs.
• Ability to own operational metrics and report on pipeline throughput.
• Highly independent, persistent, organized, and comfortable managing escalations with payer networks.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate, deadline-driven work.
• Must be able to work remotely within the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with payer and third-party portals such as Availity.
• Knowledge of commercial payer requirements, Medicare, or Medicaid processes.
• Experience in multi-state telehealth, digital health, or high-growth healthcare environments.
• Exposure to NCQA or CMS credentialing standards.
