TL;DR
Cloud Data Platform Engineer (AWS): Designing and operating cloud and hybrid data platform services for enterprise data, analytics, application, and AI/ML workloads with an accent on distributed processing, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and recovery. Focus on building AWS platform capabilities with EMR and Glue, modernizing and migrating platforms, and solving complex production incidents across heterogeneous enterprise environments.
Location: Remote within the United States. Candidates must reside in AL, AZ, DC, FL, GA, ID, MD, MS, NJ, NC, OK, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, or WV. U.S. citizenship is required. Availability during Eastern Time business hours is required. Occasional travel to FAA facilities and other CONUS locations may be required.

What you will do
- Design, operate, and improve core compute, storage, distributed-processing, automation, monitoring, and recovery services.
- Engineer AWS-based platform capabilities using Amazon EMR, AWS Glue, Linux services, and monitoring frameworks.
- Develop infrastructure automation with Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, and configuration-management tooling.
- Monitor availability, capacity, performance, logs, vulnerabilities, backup, recovery, and operational health.
- Support cloud modernization, platform migrations, scaling, resiliency improvements, release cycles, and operational transitions.
- Troubleshoot complex incidents, lead root-cause analysis, maintain operational documentation, and coordinate with cloud, data, DevOps, application, database, and security teams.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship and residence in one of the listed US states are required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and FAA Contractor Personnel Suitability.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
- At least 6 years of systems engineering or similar professional experience.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Linux, Terraform, Ansible, Amazon EMR, AWS Glue, infrastructure automation, and monitoring frameworks.
- Experience designing and implementing complex IT solutions across heterogeneous enterprise environments, with strong troubleshooting and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- FAA or other federal contracting experience and experience with regulated enterprise platforms.
- Experience with distributed data processing, production operations, high-availability environments, platform migrations, and cloud modernization.
- Experience spanning servers, networks, databases, data pipelines, and enterprise monitoring.
- Relevant AWS, infrastructure, Linux, or platform-engineering certifications.
