Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS/DevSecOps)

Location: Fully remote within the United States; Eastern Time working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional travel for training and project meetings is expected at less than 5% per year.

Salary: $106,300–$136,600 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions for applications and infrastructure.
• Embed SAST, DAST, SCA, and other security controls throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure with Terraform and Terragrunt, including security for Docker-based applications.
• Collaborate with Java, Python, and Django development teams to identify and remediate vulnerabilities in code and dependencies.
• Automate security monitoring, logging, and incident response in AWS.
• Support secure data platforms and services including Databricks and Redshift while meeting FISMA, NIST, and CMS-specific requirements.

Requirements

• U.S. Federal Government public trust clearance is required. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or qualify through the Foreign National Government System, including having lived in the United States for at least 3 of the previous 5 years, a valid non-expired passport from the country of birth, and appropriate visa/work permit documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; alternatively, 10 additional years of relevant professional experience and 8 years of specialized experience may substitute for the degree.
• 8+ years of DevOps Engineer experience and proven experience in a DevSecOps, DevOps, or Security Engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud security principles.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, specifically Terraform and Terragrunt.
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitHub Actions.
• Understanding of containerization technologies, including Docker security.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Python or Bash.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting CMS or other federal government agencies and familiarity with FISMA and NIST.
• Experience with Maven, Databricks, Redshift, Hadoop, or Django security.
• Experience administering or sizing data clusters and configuring DevSecOps, infrastructure automation, and security scanning tools such as Nessus, BurpSuite, and OWASP.
• Knowledge of AWS IAM policies and roles, security groups, and network security.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CISSP, or GSEC.
• Familiarity with Chompy.
