Principal Engineer, Mobile (Automotive)

What you will do

• Own the architecture of the C++ Turbo Module connecting the React Native application to the vehicle Secure Gateway Module over USB/DTLS.
• Lead the mobile application architecture across React Native, native modules, data persistence, EV charging, service scheduling, vehicle settings, key management, and embedded WebView integrations.
• Direct mobile backend-for-frontend and API client work, including authentication, JWT refresh, charging, service scheduling, vehicle security, and third-party integrations.
• Set observability, reliability, performance, and testability standards, including Datadog RUM, crash reporting, structured logging, and production issue resolution.
• Own iOS and Android build, release, App Store, Google Play, and OTA update strategies.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture decision records, design reviews, mentoring, code reviews, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with embedded and vehicle software teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in mobile application development.
• Deep experience with React Native, Turbo Modules, TypeScript, Expo, EAS Build, EAS Update, Expo Router, and mobile state management.
• Strong C++ native module, REST API, authentication, JWT, backend service, and third-party integration experience.
• Experience with CAN bus, UDS diagnostics, DID-based polling, DTLS/TLS, mobile security, encrypted storage, certificate authentication, and secure WebView sessions.
• Experience with CI/CD, OTA delivery, app-store submissions, mobile observability, crash diagnosis, and performance profiling.

Nice to have

• Automotive software experience, including secure gateways, vehicle certificate issuance, or embedded cryptography.
• EV charging network or fleet telematics integration experience.
• Protocol Buffers or dynamic vehicle data configuration experience.
• Experience scaling a mobile product from pre-GA to GA under hard launch deadlines.
