Senior React Native Engineer (React Native/Digital Design Systems): Building and evolving reusable React Native components for Tesco’s Digital Design System with an accent on component APIs, accessibility, testing, documentation, and release discipline. Focus on improving developer experience, supporting consuming teams, aligning implementations across iOS, Android, React Native, and Web, and applying AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly.
Location: Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom; hybrid with 60% of the week at office locations or local sites and the remainder remote

What you will do
- Build, maintain, and evolve reusable Digital Design System platform components for React Native.
- Translate design tokens, component states, interaction guidance, and design intent into production-ready implementations.
- Improve developer experience through documentation, examples, onboarding, contribution guidance, support, and migration tooling.
- Collaborate with design, accessibility, product engineering, and platform peers across iOS, Android, React Native, and Web.
- Improve documentation and component metadata for humans and AI agents using MCP-ready context and examples.
- Provide senior engineering leadership through architectural decisions, code reviews, mentoring, pragmatic delivery, and clear communication.
Requirements
- Senior-level platform engineering experience with React Native.
- Experience building reusable components with clear APIs, strong test coverage, accessibility support, and disciplined releases.
- Ability to work with design systems, design tokens, component states, and interaction guidance.
- Strong collaboration skills across design, accessibility, product engineering, and platform teams.
- Ability to work in the hybrid Welwyn Garden City arrangement, with 60% of the week spent at office locations or local sites.
