VP Engineering and Reliability (Oracle)

What you will do

• Lead the engineering and reliability function within the Technology Platform organization.
• Set the technical strategy and standards for CI/CD, infrastructure provisioning, databases, observability, security, and performance.
• Own delivery engineering, infrastructure-as-code, self-service provisioning, FinOps, resilience, disaster recovery, and platform cost optimization.
• Lead the engineering, automation, modernization, migration, performance, licensing, and lifecycle management of large Oracle estates, including RAC and Exadata.
• Build and develop a leadership layer across multiple locations and time zones, including hiring, succession planning, performance management, and organizational development.
• Represent Engineering & Reliability in executive and board-level forums and manage strategic technology vendors and governance obligations.

Requirements

• Senior Director or VP-level engineering leadership experience, including leading leaders.
• Experience managing a platform or infrastructure engineering organization of 40+ engineers across multiple locations.
• Deep experience in at least three areas including CI/CD, cloud infrastructure provisioning, infrastructure-as-code, and Oracle database engineering.
• Large-scale production Oracle experience with RAC, Data Guard, and Exadata, including modernization or migration without business disruption.
• Experience with cloud-first transformation, SRE practices, SLOs, error budgets, incident command, and post-incident learning.
• Strong commercial experience covering budgets, vendor negotiations, FinOps, Oracle licensing, regulated environments, and high availability.

Nice to have

• Experience with enterprise software, SaaS, or product organizations serving business-critical workloads.
• Familiarity with Azure, AWS, OCI, Kubernetes, Terraform, and observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, Dynatrace, or Elastic.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, Exadata Database Service, acquisition integration, or relevant cloud and Oracle certifications.
• A relevant degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
