Engineering Manager (Observability)

Location: Remote; candidates are considered only in Germany, Sweden, Spain, Ireland, and the UK

Base compensation in Spain: €94,000–€117,000 per year, plus RSUs. Compensation ranges vary by country.

What you will do

• Manage and develop backend and frontend engineers through feedback, career conversations, and growth support.
• Guide delivery of Fleet Management, the Kubernetes Monitoring Helm Chart, and the Instrumentation Hub from ideation through post-launch.
• Partner with product, engineering leadership, and go-to-market teams to improve the end-to-end observability collection experience.
• Support high-quality execution, cross-team collaboration, and customer-focused problem solving.
• Foster psychological safety, autonomy, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Experience with observability, especially OpenTelemetry, or with central control planes managing fleets of collectors.
• Experience managing autonomous engineering teams and aligning stakeholders across complex projects.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability.
• Ability to collaborate across time zones and cultures in a fully remote environment.
• Customer-focused decision-making and a technically current understanding of engineering challenges.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools in engineering workflows.

• Practical experience integrating AI-powered or agentic development tools into a team workflow.
