Field Service Technician Level II (Electrical Power Distribution)

Location: North Carolina, USA; occasional travel of up to 75% to regional field offices, vendor sites, and customer job sites.

What you will do

• Perform start-up, commissioning, installation, testing, troubleshooting, service, and repair of switchboards, control panels, and power products.
• Install and modify electrical and mechanical components, including circuit breakers, bus bars, subpanels, control wiring, and power cabling.
• Analyze system failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions for moderately complex technical issues.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, Project Managers, engineering, manufacturing, and internal support teams.
• Document service activities, parts usage, corrective actions, open items, and follow-up requirements.
• Provide guidance, shadowing, and on-the-job support to Level I technicians.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience supporting switchgear start-up and commissioning.
• 1–3 years of related electrical, mechanical, technical, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, or field service experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and power distribution systems.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment, and lift or carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• Associate degree, vocational training, military experience, or equivalent experience with switchgear, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, or related commissioning activities.
